Charlotte Elizabeth Johnson was born on 1 September 1887 in Bundarra, New South Wales, the daughter of James Johnson and Charlotte Johnson. She grew up in a large country family alongside her four sisters, spending her early years in the close-knit rural communities of northern New South Wales.
On 15 August 1907, Charlotte married Archibald Harold Gunter in Barraba, New South Wales. Together they established their family in the district and became the parents of six children. Their lives reflected those of many pioneering families of the era, with hard work, resilience, and a strong commitment to family and community.
Charlotte witnessed many changes throughout her lifetime, from the horse-and-buggy days of the late nineteenth century through the rapid social and technological changes of the twentieth century. Her legacy lives on through her descendants and the generations that followed.
