John and Jane Freestone
John Freestone was born on 10 May 1856 in New South Wales, the son of James Freestone and Anne. His father was 38 and his mother was 25 at the time of his birth.
Jane Polson was born on 5 March 1859 in Wollombi, New South Wales. She was the daughter of Thomas Polson and Mary. Her father was 48 and her mother was 25 when she was born.
John and Jane married on 24 October 1887 at Laguna, New South Wales. They went on to have seven children together over 14 years.
John and Jane spent much of their married life in the Manilla area. John died on 26 May 1936 in Manilla, New South Wales, at the age of 80, and was buried there.
Jane died on 22 July 1924 in Manilla, New South Wales, aged 65, and was also buried there.
John Freestone and Jane Polson were the parents of seven children and form an important branch of the Freestone and Polson family history.
Albert Barnes
Born on 17 January 1917 in New South Wales to George Barnes, aged 44, and Lucy Barnes, aged 38. On 29 March 1939, he married Ada Miriam Saunders in Barraba, New South Wales. Over the next 23 years, they had seven children together. Albert died on 27 February 1992 in Little Bay, New South Wales, at the age of 75. He was buried in Matraville, New South Wales.
Leo Freestone
Born on 13 June 1900 in Manilla, New South Wales, Australia, to John Freestone, aged 44, and Jane Freestone, aged 41. He spent his early years in the Manilla district before establishing his own family. On 31 December 1932, Leslie married Myrtle Lily Pearl Smith in Tamworth, New South Wales. Together they raised three children during their marriage. Leslie lived most of his life in the New England region of New South Wales. He died on 10 November 1974 in Barraba, New South Wales, at the age of 74. He was buired in Barraba.
Myrtle Lily Smith
Born on 26 February 1908 in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia, to Walter John Smith, aged 35, and Alice Smith, aged 33. She grew up in the Tamworth district before marrying Leslie Leo Archie Charles Freestone on 31 December 1932 in Tamworth. Together they built a family and had three children during their marriage. Myrtle lived most of her life in the New England region of New South Wales. She passed away on 12 June 1997 in Tamworth at the age of 89. She was buried in Barraba, New South Wales,
Walter John Smith
Born on 30 January 1873 in Inverell, New South Wales. At the time of his birth, his father, John Smith, was 36 years old and his mother, Johanna, was 33. Walter married Alice Bayliss, and together they had six children. Following Alice's death, he married Olive May Dewhurst, and they had two children together. He lived a long life and died on 10 August 1965 in Tamworth, New South Wales, at the age of 92. He was buried in Tamworth.
Lucy Hannah Kelaher
Lucy Hannah Kelaher was born on 19 December 1878 in Barraba, New South Wales. She was the daughter of Daniel Kelaher, aged 31 at the time of her birth, and Isabella Kelaher, aged 24.
On 10 June 1900, Lucy married George Thomas Brooks Barnes in her hometown of Barraba. Together, Lucy and George built a family life and welcomed nine children over the course of 22 years.
Lucy lived through a time of great change in New South Wales and devoted much of her life to her family. She passed away on 15 August 1952 in Regents Park, New South Wales, at the age of 73.
Lucy and George are buried together in Rookwood Cemetery, New South Wales. Read More
Ronald Bruce Freestone
Ronald Bruce Freestone was born in 1936 in Manilla, New South Wales, the son of Leslie Leo Freestone, aged 35, and Myrtle Lily Pearl (Smith) Freestone, aged 27. He grew up with one brother, Colin, and one sister, Gloria.
On 19 June 1959, Ronald was married in Barraba, New South Wales. He had six children: Robert, three daughters, two sons, a daughter who was stillborn on 23 October 1960 in Barraba, New South Wales. She was buried in Barraba Cemetery.
